Jersey residential property may be held as freehold, flying freehold, or through share-transfer arrangements in which a company owns the building and shares confer occupation rights. Lender appetite differs sharply between these tenures, and property qualification rules under Jersey residential status legislation can restrict who may purchase or occupy.
Jersey conveyancing is completed by contract passed before the Royal Court of Jersey, with a Jersey advocate or solicitor acting. Powers of attorney, delegate and curatorship arrangements follow Jersey law, and estates are administered through the Jersey Probate Registry. Scots or England & Wales documents are not directly transferable.
